Back to School…

Back to School, a great achievement for the “Institution Classique de Bayonnais (ICB)”

The head of Institution Classique de Bayonnais (ICB) opened the school’s doors on October 4, 2021. Despite the country’s great political and economic difficulties, the responsible and parents are making sacrifices for that day. According to Pastor Jean-Jonel Fleurisma, the Vice-director of the school, it is a real success day.

In a very difficult context, most of the students have taken the path to go to school which is one of the social institutions which can contribute to save Haiti. The opening of the school, on October 4, 2021, is a great victory for us at ICB. Out of 893 students that registered in the secondary section, 624 of whom give a percentage of 75% responded present, according to the statement of Pastor Jean-Jonel Fleurisma, the vice-director of the school.

The students who had been on vacation since June could not wait to return to school. With many smiles on their faces, one fell embracing the other; manifesting their joys, is what our EWO staff in Bayonnais noticed.

To repeat the Vice-director words, 75% of the students who were present at the opening of the school are determined for the new school year 2021-2022 to be a real success. We agreed that last year (2020-2021) was a failure because in the national exams, we did not give a good result”, This is what Jean-Jonel Fleurisma underlined as he committed himself: “We tell ourselves that the institution must never give such a bad result again.” »The Administration of the school set themselves several major goals for the year. “In the national exams, we are working to have 90% of students succeed. For the other classes, at least 95% of them are promoted to higher grades,” said M. Fleurisma, who is very concerned about the quality of training students should receive.

Charlesen Alcius, Principal of the Primary Section did not hide his happiness for the opening of the school. Unlike the secondary school, many students did not respond present. Out of 819 students (primary + Kindergarten), 437 students were present. “I will not dwell on the small numbers to say that the opening of the school has not been successful due to the living conditions of parents and students, and safety.”

Even if the number is very small, it is still a victory for us.  It is not uncommon for the first few days of school to not have all the students in attendance.  We are looking forward to those students to come to school very soon.  All teachers are mobilized to work hard to make this year a successful school year.
