On Saturday, July 22, 2023, the ICB School, in perfect corporation with its partners, organized a graduation ceremony for the students of 13th grade. This promotion is called “Sublime,” and has 73 students who received their parchments during this graduation ceremony. This promotion is the 20th class that has received their parchment from 2003-2023. More than 80% of these graduates have been with us since elementary grades.

Actionnel Fleurisma , the Executive Director of the school, said in his speech that, “even for many people, school is losing value but we at ICB are still fighting for it because we believe that school is one of the best ways for a person to be successful.”
Since 2003, the ICB School has been recognized as an institution that consistently produces good results in the national exams and has a lot of influence on other schools in Haiti. It is always ranked in the top 10 best schools for the Artibonite region. Actionnel asked parents to continue helping the school stay in the top 10 by encouraging all of the children in the community to study and graduate. He congratulated them for sending their children to school for a better life tomorrow. Both parents and students are making a big difference in society.

The laureate of the promotion, Fauslet Filzema, is one of our sponsored students. During his speech, he proudly thanked the staff of the Organization of the Christian force of Bayonnais (OFCB), the staff of the Institution Classique de Bayonnais (ICB), our international supporters, and also more particularly the Ewo staff who have contributed a lot to their studies.
Fauslet believes that without the Ewo sponsorship program, many of the students graduating would not be able to get this parchment today. The training he and his classmates received at the ICB School is much more reliable than some schools in Haiti. “We know that our parents and teachers have made a lot of sacrifices for us and we promise them that we will work to give good results,” said Fauslet.

Kenold Decimus, Board Member of OFCB and the first graduate of the school from 1996-2003, in his speech shows that education is the best way for a young person from Bayonnais to show himself in society.
Quoting Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world,” Kenold directed the students to “keep studying because education is the one of the best weapons that can help them in life. Study something that can be useful tomorrow.”
Kenold spoke of an idea that Dow Bauknight, Ewo Board Chairman, shared with them on entrepreneurship class. “We must always aim high… but that doesn’t stop you from starting low.” He to advised students after graduation, try to learn something that can help provide a living if they can’t go to university.

To finish, the promotion honored Actionnel with an award for his service and sense of leadership in the community. “Pastor Actio you are a father to us and we love you very much for your sense of responsibility in Bayonnais,” praised 3rd Laureate of the promotion Michelet Charles.
“We remind you that ICB was founded in 1994 with 105 students and today it has more than 2,000 students. The motto of the school is Always Towards Excellence.”
There were about 500 people expected but way many more than that were in attendance. The whole Christian Church of Bayonnais was as full as an egg. Many people from Gonaives attended as well.
Let’s keep praying for those 35 girls and 38 boys as the days are getting closer and closer for them to start their national exams on July 31st to finish August 3rd.
Yes, there is hope! Yes, let’s keep the light shining!!
