K-3 Graduation: A Phenomenal Success

Every year, the ICB kindergarden invites people from all over Haiti to take part in the community’s most spectacular graduation ceremony. More than 500 people from all over the country came on June 16, 2023 to take part in the graduation ceremony.

Objective

According to Venette Merilus, the principal of the kindergarden, this activity was organized with the aim of allowing children to show their talent. “We wanted to show parents and others that children are amazing and very talented. We also wanted to give visibility to the school, especially the kindergarden.”

The graduation was a huge success. The principal and her team have made this clear. However they were not totally satisfied, “It was a dazzling success. Parents and the public have testified to this extensively. Nevertheless, we are not completely satisfied due to the fact that not all children were able to participate. Out of 94 children, only 78 participated because parents could not afford the requested fees. I think this situation could cause a psychological shock to the children and their parents.”

Participant satisfaction

The team was very  motivated. This motivation allowed them to give satisfaction to the children, to the parents. “We have spent months preparing for what we have just witnessed today. We are very happy because everyone is satisfied,” said Venette.

“Our children are beautiful and intelligent. All this is thanks to the school. When we look at our children like this, it brings us joy and satisfaction. Thank you ICB! Congratulations to the whole team” exclaim some parents.

“Thank you to Mrs. Venette and her team! You are doing a good job. The work you do here is priceless. These children represent a sign of hope for this community, for the country, and for the whole world,” says Pastor Actionnel Fleurisma.

Despite this great success, the Director hopes to see improvements for the years to come. She hopes that other officials will be able to collaborate. She also hopes that the poorest children can find the help they need  so that they do not miss graduation.
