Ewo’s 2nd Annual Back to School Fundraiser

The ICB school in Haiti has over 2,300 students between three campuses; Cathor, Nicholas, and Zoranger. All three campuses teach the primary grades, but all secondary students must attend classes on Cathor, the main campus.

Many of you will remember that the kitchen in Cathor was expanded in February of this year thanks to generous donations from YOU last Giving Tuesday. This kitchen feeds over 1,700 students every day! Can you imagine?

Oftentimes, the hot meal students receive at school is the only meal they have all day. Feeding the children at school is important to their overall well being and to their learning. Imagine how serving lunches would be easier if you had a plate and spoon for every student!

Actionnel’s wife, Yolande, works directly with the ladies that cook those meals and shared with me that they were in need of supplies! Ewo got to work and made helping outfit the kitchen the focus of our Back to School Fundraiser – I am so excited to share that we exceeded our goal of $3,000 in just three days!!

Because of you, the cooks on the main campus will have the tools they need to provide students with a hot meal every day at school. You have made a huge difference for them and for the students they feed. They know you love these children as much as they do!!

Your generosity will enable Yolande to purchase 240 plates and spoons, 24 serving spoons, 8 large pots, 4 shovels, 4 work tables, and 1 large shelving unit for storage. The response to help was so great that she has extra funding to purchase cups, forks, and chairs for the ladies to be able to sit while they work. There’s also enough extra to repair the rotting kitchen door and put a fresh coat of paint on it. Amazing!

Yolande is already working on securing the items for the kitchen. Both she and the cooks wanted you to know that they are so thankful for you! Yolande texted me, ” At this time of non-stop political turmoil, it is absolutely wonderful to get some good news. Once it is all done, I will send you pictures so that donors can see where their money goes. God bless you all!”

We are so thankful for our sponsors and donors, for your quick response, and for loving this community so deeply. Thank you all for heart for Haiti!!
