Did you know that on February 20, 2022, the ICB band officially began? This was long awaited by learners and our friends in Bayonnais to better serve the community: “Thanks to EWO, through Melissa Hoffmann and Olguens Saint-Louis, we have secured funds to purchase instruments.” explains Facile Elismé, the music director at the OFCB. Facile recently hired a second music teacher, Adolph Jean Eric, to assist with the program. The new instruments purchased as a result of the 2021 Back to School fundraiser have given students more options to be involved in music. The increased interest in the program fueled the need to hire a second music teacher.
According to Facile Elismé, its main objective is to make this school a reference orchestra. “We want this school to be a reference school, recognized throughout the country.”
“I hope that this newly created school will allow each learner to play an instrument, to have a quality fanfare meeting international standards in order to better serve the community and the whole country. From my experiences, I think after three months learners will be able to play and produce sounds pleasing to the ear.” adds Adolph, one of the leaders of the music school.
At the moment, the school has about 30 students of different options. Facile Elismé and Adolph Jean Eric are mainly responsible for this school.
