August 10, 2024
So, as of today, the 10th of August, 2024; here is what the Bayonnais team has accomplished on the computer lab to date:
1- All the walls have been built.
2- All the roofing has been completed.
3- All the ceiling has been completed.
4- All the plastering, in and out, has been completed.
5- Nearly 90% of outlets/ceiling in the walls have been installed.
6- The debris from the inside have taken away.

We believe that this present project has been seen as one of the strongest initiative to have been undertaken in order to transform lives here in Bayonnais.

Week 5, July 22nd -28th
Check out the progress this week!

July 19, 2024
As the 4th week of construction of the computer lab wraps up, check out the progress that has been made! The roof is complete and the walls are almost finished. Work is still ongoing on the masonry, the walls, and the ceiling is also being worked on and should be done by the end of week 5.
All the labor for this project has been recruited in Bayonnais. There are about 25 people working on the project as part time contractors. Sourcing labor from Bayonnais helps fuel the local economy and keeps the money in the community. This greatly benefits many families, thanks to this project.
Once construction is complete, the next phase will be to transform the space into a true computer learning center, with 2 classrooms that will accommodate 28 students in each. We hope to see it fully functional by December 2024. We are excited to see the positive impact that having access to computers will have on the school and the community!

Week 3
More progress on the walls!

Week 2
The walls are going up!

June 17, 2024
Construction materials have been purchased and Monday, June 17th marked the first day of building for the COMPUTER LAB! How exciting to see this project begin!! We are so thankful that this dream is becoming a reality – all because you supported Ewo’s 2023 Giving Tuesday fundraiser.

The building of the computer lab is projected to take 3 months to complete. Because of the scope of the project, Ewo has partnered with both OFCB and our sister nonprofit, Friends Empowering Haiti. Once the actual construction is complete, Friends Empowering Haiti will work with OFCB and the ICB School to transform the space into a true computer learning center. The goal is to have the center functional by December 2024.

The computer learning center will be the first classrooms on the 3rd floor of the existing secondary school building in Cathor. The center will be an air conditioned space 7 meters by 14 meters (roughly 1054 sq ft) that will be divided into 2 classrooms. Each classroom will have 28 computers and a teacher. In addition, there will be a printer for the lab’s use. The center will be powered by an addition to OFCB’s existing solar power system.
We can’t wait to see this project come to life and the long-term benefits it will bring to the school and community!
