She’s an integral part of why our student sponsorship program is successful! She works hard behind the scenes to make sure our sponsors get everything they need to have a real relationship with their children.

Since she’s always behind the scenes, we thought you’d enjoy a few fun facts to get to know her better!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
The best advice I’ve received is “choose your battles”. It opened my eyes to the gray in the world and has served me well.

Last great book you read, or what are you currently reading?
I love to read, mostly fiction, what I call “cotton candy” books (reading for escape and fun). My favorite genre right now is psychological suspense. I just finished reading Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend, it was hilarious. Favorite authors? John Grisham, John Irving and Pat Conroy. So if you’re calling the office and I’m not answering the phone – I’m probably on the back deck reading a good book!

You have to sing karaoke, what song do you pick?
If I had to sing karaoke, y’all better get earplugs quick! God did not gift me with a singing voice by any stretch of the imagination! When I think about this one, I realize favorite songs have changed over the years. Here are some: Brass in Pocket by the Pretenders, Teach Your Children Well by Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Losing by Tenth Avenue North, You Say by Lauren Daigle

Do you run late or early?
Always early, my mantra: “Early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable!”

What’s your favorite “weird” thing to eat?
As a rule, I don’t eat weird food, but coming from New England (I grew up in Maine), I’ve come to realize some of the food I grew up with Southerners have never heard of. One example is Brown Bread. Here is a description I found on the internet: New England or Boston brown bread is a type of dark, slightly sweet steamed bread, usually sweetened with molasses, popular in New England. The moist bread is dark in color and traditionally served with baked beans and franks. I loved it growing up and I can’t buy it here!!

I’ve included lots of photos of my children – my greatest joy in life is my family.
